Ellos Mismos [2006]
Ellos Mismos is a photography series that reflects on fashion and desire, and therefore consumerism. When consumers buy clothes they don't only want to be dressed up but they also project their desire to be transformed into the model or celebrity persona who is advertising them. This is how the politics of desire rule the fashion industry.
Magazine advertising and editorial pictures have been transferred to slides and rephotographed while projected over naked bodies. Each of the models picked out the image of the idol they would like to be "dressed up" with.
