The port of Constanta in Romania, the largest port of the Black Sea, is overwhelmed since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, in February 24th, 2022.
The Romanian port, which used to move 68 million tones of goods per year, now is forced to guarantee the safe transit of a large part of the 150 million tones of import-export handled by the Ukrainian ports that have been paralysed because of the war. One month after the invasion, companies working in Constanta notice a 25-30% increase of traffic.
"If the situation continues like this, we will soon need more storage space" states Gabriel Codet, Operations Manager at Socep import-export company.
